Adulterers will be severely punished in this world and in the hereafter

Adultery is a sin in Islam. As the perpetrators of such misdeeds will face severe punishment in the life of the hereafter, they have been given the most severe punishment in the life of this world.

Hazrat Anas (R.A.) narrates – Rasul (S.A.W.) said, “Iman is a beautiful garment, Allah puts it on whomever He wills. But when someone commits adultery, Allah takes away the garment of faith from him. Then if he repents, then Allah gives him back that garment' (Rayhaqi, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi and Hakem).

Rasulullah (PBUH) also said, 'O Muslim community! Refrain from fornication. Because it has six bad consequences. Three of which will take place in this world and three in the Hereafter. The three things of this world are, the beauty of his face fades, his life shortens, and he remains in poverty forever. The heavenly three are, he will face Allah's displeasure, severe reckoning and the punishment of Hell' (Ibn Jawzi).

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Iblis Shaitan, while spreading his army of disciples in the world, said, 'Whoever among you can lead a Muslim astray, I will put a crown on his head with my own hands and he will be considered the most honorable to me.' At the end of the day, everyone returns to Iblish and gives an account of their day's work. Some say that I pursued so-and-so and forced his wife to divorce through malicious incitement. Iblish says, your work is nothing, he will marry another woman.

Then another said, "I have followed so and so all day long and have caused a conflict with his brother through various malicious incitements." Iblish says, your work is nothing, soon they will settle with each other. Then another says, I have made so-and-so commit fornication all day long by persuasion. Iblish is now happy and says, 'Yes, you have done a good job. Then Iblish put a crown on his head.

May Allah protect us from the evil of Satan and his disciples. And in another hadith, the Prophet (PBUH) said, 'Whoever dies while drinking alcohol (without repentance), Allah will make him drink the water of the canal called Ghawtat. Ghawat is the flowing fountain of foul blood and pus from the vagina of adulteresses in Hell' (Ahmad, Abu Yala, Ibn Hebban, Hakem).

Elsewhere the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'There is no more heinous sin than ejaculating on the genitals of an illegitimate woman after committing shirk to Allah' (Ahmad, Tabarani). There is no alternative to custody of sight and private parts to avoid adultery.
