The moon is shrinking, earthquakes and landslides are increasing

The Moon's core is cooling and contracting, according to a new study funded by NASA. This causes more folds to form on the lunar surface. This has increased earthquakes and landslides there. Therefore, where the astronauts will land on the moon in the future, we have to think anew. It has long been thought that a region of the Moon's south pole may contain ice. The space agencies of some countries around the world were planning to launch their lunar missions around that region. But new research shows that the region is not as habitable as it was thought to be. Since the successful landing of India's Chandrayaan-3 mission at the South Pole, the interest of scientists around the region has been increasing. Russia failed to send spacecraft to the region. NASA then decided to conduct its Artemis-3 mission to the region. NASA also plans to send astronauts to the lunar surface in 2026 through this mission. China also talks about plans to build human settlements there in the future. But new NASA research has raised new questions about the effort. The process of the Moon's core slowly shrinking is much like a raisin on a finger. The core is contracting and causing frequent moonquakes. This process is similar to the general process of artificial satellites. The south pole of artificial satellites is usually a vibration prone area. It will be risky if human settlements and machinery are installed in it in the future.
